Blue Vector Systems Receives Series B Funding for RFID Solutions
Draper Richards, ONSET Ventures, and Blacksmith Capital fund sales and marketing development
Mountain View, Calif. – September 21, 2005 – Blue Vector Systems, a leading provider of network-based RFID and sensor appliance infrastructure solutions, today announced it has secured its Series B financing led by Draper Richards and ONSET Ventures, with additional investor Blacksmith Capital. Blue Vector will use the funding to further advance its sales team and marketing initiatives.
Blue Vector is a key player in the fast growing RFID market. AMR Research recently forecasted a 16% jump in RFID spending from 2005 to 2006, then 20% growth from 2006 to 2007. Blue Vector enables companies to realize new efficiencies in functionality and operation using RFID and sensor infrastructure.
“Investing in Blue Vector Systems was an easy decision for us,” said Bill Draper, general partner at Draper Richards. “This is a company with longevity, they have a very devoted and savvy management team that will do whatever it takes to succeed – those are admirable and desired attributes for success in business.”
“The Blue Vector sensor and RFID network technology is unique, it solves key infrastructure deployment and network management issues that enterprises face as they begin adopting RFID,” said Mark Hilderbrand, general partner at ONSET Ventures. “No other RFID and sensor company is addressing this issue in the compelling way that Blue Vector is.”
Blue Vector’s suite of distributed computing appliances were designed to enable supply chain operations to easily deploy, grow and manage their RFID implementations using a network-based approach. As the first network-based infrastructure on the market, Blue Vector continues to innovate providing mission critical systems that are reliable, easy to maintain, and support process evolution by allowing businesses to layer and leverage existing and new processes with the same RFID and sensor network infrastructure.
The solution consists of Blue Vector’s Edge Manager Appliance (EMA) and an RFID Network Manager Appliance (NMA) with a Web-based Blue Vector Configuration Management System (CMS). Together, this family of products, forms a solution designed to address the vast operational and deployment complexities companies face, from implementing initial pilots to incrementally growing their RFID and sensor footprints to map to their nationwide supply chain implementations.
